| After
prying the stray mounting stud out of the motherboard mounting
plate, I slapped 'er in, and plugged in all my components.
Ran all of my wires nice and tight. There's room around the
power supply, and behind the motherboard tray to run cables
and keep everything nice and neat. No problems in the installation,
and everything fired up right away.

I'd been
wondering where the hard drive and power LEDs were mounted.
Turns out they're in the power and reset buttons. Green for
power, and red for hard drive. Looks VERY slick when the machine
is running. All of the metal edges you might run your hand
across (and believe me, I slice the hell out of my hands on
cheap cases everyday, so this is a big deal.) are nicely rounded.
A very nice detail, especially for those of us who work on
our machines alot. Bleeding sucks.

Problems
Nothing
major, save one thing. The CPU and motherboard tempuratures
tend to go up gradually by about 6-10 degrees when the lower
5.25" bay is closed, sometimes a little more depending
on CPU load. I suspect that the fans are simply not pulling
enough air when it's shut. Due to the nature of the front
of the case there's no real air flow save through a small
hole in the very bottom of the bezel, unless the bottom panel
is open. If you stick your hand in the front of the case you
can feel the air moving, close the panel..... No air, just
a little trickle from the bottom of the bezel. Perhaps they
could improve it a bit by adding some venting holes along
the side or front of the bezel.
The black
shiney plastic handle on the door and mirror also pick up
finger prints and dust like a mofo, but a quick wipe down
with a damp cloth once a week or so should keep 'em looking
spiff.

Conclusions
Overall
an excellent and really, really unique looking case. Tons
of room, tons of drive bays, and lots of really nice features.
I am mildly concerned with the temperature issue, but that
may be fixed in a later version of the case. (?) If you're
looking for a new case, the Noblesse is something to think
about. And it'll really catch some attention at your next
LAN. :) I'm also worried about scratching the case, hauling
it around. It's just so pretty!
As a
sidenote, Kingpin's Antech case is roughly 2.5"s higher
than this Noblesse, but the Noblesse has an extra drive bay.
(Heh.)
As a
side note I LOVE GMC's slogan. "We don't rush products
into the market." Bully for them. |
