| Manual
Good
manual, lots of details. Frankly I didn't even bother reading
it, I just threw the quick ref on my keyboard, ran the training
missions once and went for it. No problems.
Bug
Report
While
playing I've experienced some rather annoying drop to desktops,
and one lockup. The drop to desktop bug is particularly annoying
as it happens to me at least a few times a night, generally
when I'm playing online. On my graphic anomaly list is the
fact that my smoke is green for some reason, which just plain
looks strange. I've also noticed a few wierd clipping errors.
Dead bodies will fall through the ground, leaving a shadow
behind. I've also had a few enemy soldiers go prone and push
most of their bodies through walls, leaving only a gun sticking
out.
My install
screens were also messed up for some reason, might just be
my video drivers. Quite a few people on the forums
are bitching about problems and bugs, but those are the two
I've run into thus far.
Conclusions
Well,
there are a few things about this game that make me want to
march right down to Red Storm's HQ and give the dev team a
good beating with my vendor appreciation bat (TM) the overall
creamy goodness of the game has restrained my hand and the
good points of this game definitely outweigh the bad.
If there's
only a few things annoying about a newly released game, the
dev team is running a pretty good average.. Considering the
shape that so much of the software coming out there days is
in when it ships. I'm having one hell of a good time in Ghost
Recon both in the single player campaign and in multiplayer.
It certainly won't be a game for everyone, but with the new
arcade and respawn modes it should appeal to a wide audience
than the previous Red Storm games, and tactical shooters in
general have. (And no, I don't class Counter Strike as a tactical
shooter.) Good story line, great graphics, sweet guns, and
the fact that it's generally just a fun game to play should
keep this one in your drive for a bit.
