What a gamer wants... What a gamer needs.......
Boomslang by Anthony “Messiah” Bermudez. June 29.2001
In the eternal quest for the ultimate gaming mouse, can the boomslang rule supreme?
Look, I’m pretty macho when it comes to my mice. I go through them on a monthly basis and as a pre game ritual, I clean the living hell out of em. I burnt out the new Microsoft IntelliMouse and even then its clunkiness…I just didn’t like it (as we speak Microsoft henchmen are plotting my foil.) Damn. The Razer Boomslang is pure unadulterated insanity. I have to make this review longer so let me get tech. When I got the mouse, I opened it and I thought it was from NASA. I was convinced that after opening it I would have to detox because this thing looked radioactive! So immediately I wanted to try this bad boy out. I hooked up the Boomslang in my USB port (also comes with PS/2 port) and did the usual setup procedures which took no time. I heard rumors that the Razer was more of a Quake/UT friendly mouse but as I loaded Tribes 2 (look for Messiah. and bring it on chum…p), the mouse molded into the shape of my hand like that Nightmare on Elm Street movie! Okay, that didn’t happen but what did happen was smoothness, increased accuracy-the definition of beauty by a gamer. Apparently, Karna is the exclusive focused light beam encoding technology that lends Razer products their extraordinary accuracy and sensitivity (The writer of this review was not paid by Razer to write this-Ed.) Gimmick or no gimmick, increased control and the resulting accuracy ain’t no joke. This is the real thing. Ergonomics (which albeit takes an hour or so to get used to) and smoothness. (especially!) It felt like my hand was hovering over some ephemeral void. The power of the Force can be the only explanation! So buy this mouse and your life will be better. I really can’t find anything wrong with it at all. Some people complain that the buttons were too large but I can’t see it. I think they have some Freudian complex or something. And for the gamer who doesn’t want to dish out $100 for the 2000dpi you can get the 1000dpi for 70 bucks. Check it out at http://www.razerzone.com and buy one. You won't regret it.
