New Guns
Wow.
Quite an array of new firepower with which to smite thine
enemies. New pistols, assault and battle rifles, as well as
submachine guns. The New FNP90-SD (Yes, you CS guys have seen
this bad boy before.. Remember Beta 5.5?!) seems to be the
weapon of choice with myself and the other NAS
guys. With it's 50 round magazine, low recoil and insane
rate of fire it cuts down enemies like there's no tomorrow.
Long range it's not a good choice, but for that they've added
a new sniper rifle. Tons of new toys for you to play with,
including one of my favorite battle rifles, the FN-FAL. Woot.
Graphics
Engine & Sound
Same
old, same old. If you've seen Urban Ops you've seen Black
Thorn. I've always felt that the R6 games looked decent, and
the environments are always nicely detailed......But thank
god that Ghost Recon is due out soon, as the ol' RS engine
is just starting to look a little dated compared to the new
games coming out. (IGI would be a good example.)
Controls
Same
controls as Urban Ops, and most other shooters. Only thing
a little hard to get used to using is the lean out, where
you can peek just your head and gun around a corner to take
a look and or shoot some poor son-of-a-bitch running down
the hall in the open. Controls are easily remapped as well,
but the default WASD worked out pretty well for me.
Manual
Passes
the weight test easily, especially for a shooter manual. Lots
of details on everything from gameplay to planning and tactics.
Also contains a list of all weapons and items in the game,
along with a description and details on history and use. Should
be more than enough information for even those who've never
played any of the R6 games before to get right into BT with
a little practice.
