Welcome to Classic Counter-Strike, a project dedicated to preserving the heritage of past CS releases, including the betas and maps no longer included in the official releases.

Just quick note (man this should have been posted AGES ago) to let you know we've long since ceased support and working on Classic CS. Thanks for all the support and downloads, and thanks to everyone who's hosted Classic CS servers. A few people have offered to revive the project, but nothing ever came of it. And many thanks to Protocal and Dopper, the men behind the idea. You guys kick ass. I guess a few hundred thousand visits to the site and thousands of downloads on the file goes to prove that the project was a success.

Classic CS out.

Just a few quick updates.  I got an e-mail about the installer not working.  I've found that if you double click it too many times, a blank box comes up, EVENTUALLY the installer will pop up normally.

Here is a link to download Winamp 3! It's quite nice once you get used to the layout and new features. Low and behold I found another interesting bit of cfg files lying around in the Mercenary pack :)  These are for dialup/cable/lan connections, just exe them as you would normally do any other cfg file.  Download here.

Now, I'm going out on a limb here saying this, but I THINK VAC is useless... If you don't believe me, just check out the demos (taken Aug 24/02)  I'm going to post here in the next few days.  Don't take offense to this, I am STRICTLY trying to prove a point that Valve has to step it up, because I for one am VERY annoyed with this whole OGC fiasco.

I'm not making this a huge post today, just wanted to mention that we have another site hosting the map pack over at lsdownz.com (clan), thanks guys!  They said they might be able to host the pack on one of their servers too, that would be amazing!  Anyways, head over to the download section and choose a mirror, the only thing wrong with the map pack is that it defaults to C:\Sierra\Half-Life\cstrike, and you can't change that path because the installer I'm using is uber gay... Hopefully I can get InstallShield for the next pack release.

The boys over at lsdownz have also brought to my attention a missing de_aztec, version 1.0, so that will be in the next map pack as well.  Thanks guys.

Great news! I got Fileplanet to host the map pack as well as this one! You can grab the file from there by following this link.  I've also sent an e-mail to ZEROPING, and maybe they will host the map pack on their site too.  I hope those of you that have downloaded the pack are enjoying it.

I'm going to put the "PODbot" folder that I use in .zip format so that those of you who wish to play some of the classic maps, but no servers can play.  The bots have way points in most of the old maps, thanks to the Federate Mercenary Clan, they have PODbot with a TON of waypoints in their Mercenary Pack for cs (current version is v2.4b).  You should download that too, if you have a high end computer :P

classiccs_mpv75 is now out and available to download, head on over to the downloads page and start your downloadin'.  The following is a change log.  Enjoy!

ccs_mpv75

- added cs_facility_b2 (Beta 2) official release version.
- updated as_forest (Beta 6.5) official release version.
- updated version of current classic map list (.txt).
- included "how to" into map pack.

The official releases mean this is when the map was FIRST introduced.  Hence why we are the classics site.  as_forest SHOULD now work with most servers, I was playing it last night :)

I added some servers you can connect to directly if you have the Gametiger cs launcher.  If not, download it here, and game away.  Click "open" not "save" and the launcher should pop-up. The blueyonder cs serer is a classic cs server, join that one for some serious fun :) I've also got two girly clan servers and two other really fast Canadian servers for your fraggin' fun.  Yes, they do run custom maps too, I was playing cs_docks the other night, good times! Eventually I'd like to have only the servers running classic cs maps, but for now, that should do, let's face it, you can't get much better then having two girl clan servers :)  Girl gamerz are l337!

[*Girlz*] server is offline :(  Back up soon I hope girlz!

If anyone is interested in the "HOW did I NOT get hs there!?! BS!" sort of thing, check out this link.  It's called CS 1.5 Bullet Pattern Analysis, the name speaks for itself.

ZEROPING might post link to this site on theirs :) w00t! and I'm trying to get the [*Girlz*] clan to do the same.

Another quick bit of news, I fixed the maps sections *Applause* Yes, I'm actually that dumb that I can't speel the right path to the pictures :P  I'm working on the polls too, they are slightly out of my grasp at the moment, I'm pretty new to all this.  Stay tuned, new pack out Monday!

I'm going way off topic today, but what the hell.  I recently visited this site www.girlzclan.com and took a look around.  It's a pretty fancy shmancy site if you ask me.  Go have a look if you like, and they also have a cs server up.  Check their server out too if you want to play with some [*Girlz*].  Nice site ladies.  BTW, I've played on their server, they're pretty good for chicks :P

In other news, I've been having a VERY hard time getting the maps page to work.  This could be one of two reasons.  a) I'm that dumb that I just don't get it, or b) I'm probably just that dumb.  So, until I figure out what the hell is going on, just visit other map pages :)

New map pack coming out by next Monday (Aug 19th)  cs_facility_b2, as_forest (fixed), and maybe 1 or 2 more surprises :P

Just a quick bit of news today, it's been brought to my attention that "as_forest" does not work with most servers running that map.  I apologize for this and I WILL put the correct as_forest in the pack.  Please inform me if there are other maps that are incorrect with servers.

Again, I am sorry for the lack of updates to this site.  I have some good new though, I've been talking to admins from ZEROPING and I have been trying to convince them into using one of their servers to run the classics map pack.  They haven't e-mailed me back about it yet, so we'll see.  I've also filled out a form on the ZEROPING site to try and get this site hosted by them.  At least this way I'll get a little more feedback on the site, and maybe a little help, seeing as though I'm only on my computer about 4 hours a week.  If you would like to help update this site, PLEASE e-mail.  As far as what I'm working on right now, well, I've been using PODBot in all the classic maps and recording demos, and I'm eventually going to make a movie called "Old Sk00liN IT" or something like that.  Thanks to Praetorian, who has given me a free poll for this page, it will be up in a few days.

A bit of stupid news, thank you to "Elmo's gay" who mailed me about the speeling errors on this page.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys... I've been REALLY busy working 6 days a week!  I'm working on the map pack btw, it has some older versions of cs_facility and cs_docks (the one where you can walk around inside that cool building).  Forums will be up eventually along with polls.  It's hard to find a free poll these days... That's all the news I have for you fine people.

I'm uploading the map pictures, and trying to get a deal on a good form with no banners or pop-ups... You can download the classic cs mpv72 pictures from the download section.  They are in 800x600 format for now.  I will be adding 1600x1200 soon (big yes! bigger is better!)  Probably 4 shots from each level or so... If any of you have suggestions, please e-mail me them.  I've been asked if old beta releases are going to be on the site soon.  No, they won't, but I do have MOST of them, and eventually they will, along with the last version of Half-Life (1.1.0.6) that works with all the old betas.  I'm also trying to get some friends of mine who run servers to start using this map pack, so we will see how that goes in the next few weeks.

Brief note, I've updated the map pack to version 7.2, this is where Dopper left off. I was also sent the "real" siege_apc level, so you can download just that map, or download the new pack. Oh and thanks to "IWILLKILLYOU" for sending me the revised cs_siege_apc map! It was also brought to my attention that the installer defaults to "c:/sierra/half-life/cstrike" which some of you people don't have it installed there.  I'm sorry, but the install program I'm using doesn't let me ASK you where to put the maps.  So, if you need help, e-mail me ok? I've posted a quick tutorial in the downloads section on where to put the maps and wads.

classiccs_mpv1.exe is out, and available in the downloads section! Download at your heart's desire! If things don't work for you, or something is missing, etc... e-mail me please! Special thanks to Marauder for getting this site up and running again, I love you man :) (in a non-sexual sort of way that is...). That's it for me, I'll be uploading the pics section and adding a voting section soon too. Oh and if you'd like to be spammed, just mail me a quick "wow that pack sucked ass" and I'll spam the shit out of you ok?

Ooooh! Look who's here! Yes, it is I! Alrighty, the map pack is finished, just for you people wondering what's going on with it, but I'm way to tired to do anything else, check out the maps/pics section, and have a look see at the maps to come :) BTW... If anyone knows where I left my socks last night, please give them back, thanks!

Protocal likes the site design, and so I've put it live. Prot won't actually have FTP access to the site for at least a few days, and the classiccs@fragtopia.com email addy won't be open for that long either. I'm so excited to get this project live again. :) We're been offline for about 1.5 years... Dopper just lost interest and time to continue the project.

Not much to report, just working on the basic site layout. We'll see what Protocalz0r thinks of it, assuming of course his modem will actually download the title bar. Hah. Stupid modem humpers. Gotta hate 'em. It's like they did something horrible in a former life, like being Hitler or perhaps Rossanne Barr and are now damned to an eternity of 5k/second. Hah.
